A basketball is going through a hoop on a basketball court.
We will be glad to help disassemble your basketball hoop and reinstall it in a new location, provided you are relocating within Maryland, Washington DC, Southern Pennsylvania, or Northern Virginia.

Before installing an in-ground basketball system, it is important you first survey the area before doing any digging. Most States do not permit holes to be dug within 3 feet of any utility markings. We will have to visit your home twice when performing in-ground installations. On the first visit, we will dig the hole as per the manufacturer specifications, pour the concrete, and install the base-plate. Considering that the concrete is rather finicky when wet, you must allow a period of time for it to set. On the second visit, we will install the hoop assembly itself. At that point, the job is done and done! You can now enjoy your brand new basketball hoop to your heart's content!

Homeowner’s preparation for the installation of in-ground basketball system

Before making our first visit, we require homeowners to:

Get clearance by visiting the local utility company. State and local authorities require a clearance to be tendered before digging a hole four feet deep and two feet wide. It is important you consult with home owners’ association and local municipalities nearest you.

Get a utility company to come mark utility lines on your property. This is often done for free. Please ensure that the company approves two spots for digging. The second spot will serve as an alternative, should the first have underground obstruction.

We will communicate with the utility company on your behalf. But before we do that, we will need you to provide us with the plan of your home and your preferred installation spots (two).
Please bear in mind that utility companies do not mark obstructions like electrical lawn lighting systems, lawn sprinklers and electric dog fences. Before digging, we will require you to remove lighting system lines or utility lines which will obstruct our work. Should any electrical or plumbing obstruction be found in the first spot, we will have no other choice but to install the in-ground basketball system in the second spot.

If there is an existing in-ground unit, it is your duty as a homeowner to get it removed before we make our first visit. Please consult with your local contractor before doing this. They may be need to fill an existing hole especially if it is larger than 2×3. This will have to be done before a new unit can be installed. Please ensure that the diameter corresponds to the specification of the manufacturer. If it happens, we can’t install your unit due to an obstruction, we will refund your money after taking out trip fee incurred by our technician after visiting your home.

Added to this, we may also provide you with in-ground units previously removed.

Clean up: It is your responsibility as a homeowner to dispose all packing materials. The only thing we can do for you it to place removed trashed at designated spots. We do not carry trash off- site on your behalf.

~FAQs about Canceling and Rescheduling~

A young boy is throwing a basketball into a basketball hoop.

Can I cancel or reschedule my service visit?

You are free to do so but you will have to give us a call 24 hours before our scheduled visit. To cancel your scheduled visit, it is important you give us a call 24 hours ahead of time. Failure to do so will attract a 2nd trip fee on your next appointment.

Can you explain what you mean by in-ground basketball goal installation?

This installation is done in 2 days. Though there might be some variations, the installation is generally done as follows:

Visit 1: Prepare a hole, 36 to 48” deep and 18 to 24” wide. Get the hole filled with concrete and install the manufacturer’s anchor system.

Visit 2: We will then mount a backboard system and a pole.

We will require you pen down your signature once the installation has been completed. We ask that you wait for 24 hours before making use of your system.

Cost of installation is calculated based on the cost of the concrete and the size of the goal.

Why is it necessary to have my property marked?

State laws demand your property first be marked before any hole can be dug. However, requirements for marking varies state to state.

Do is still have to mark my property after signing the waiver?

The waiver covers only underground objects located within your property such as security fences. The law demands public utilities be marked by state authorities.

How close will your dig be to the marking?

Digging can only be made, at minimum, 36 inches away from the marking.

Will you have to make new markings when installing new in-ground basketball hoop?

We will still have to have your property marked, as we can’t accurately determine if the previous installer had marked your property appropriately. Marking your property also ensures we stay within safety limits especially when using heavy machinery such as a jackhammer. But if we were the ones that did the previous installation, then there will be no need for marking provided we are installing a new hoop of exact size as the former.

What will I have to do?

We advise you read between the lines of your waiver before penning down your signature. You will be held responsible should any underground utility be damaged during digging. The client or their representative of at least 18 years of age must be present on both visits.

It is your duty to provide water source which should be 150 feet from the dig site. We will need this for concrete mixing.

Also ensure nobody comes close to the anchor kit or pole after performing the first phase of the basketball unit installation.

If after signing the waiver I change my mind about the job, can I rescind it?

Not immediately. You will have to give your consent online and then have the signed copy faxed to us. We are more than happy to walk  you through the entire process.

~About Installation~

What weather condition is appropriate for the installation of my hoop?

Installation is ideal when daytime temperature registers 85 degrees Fahrenheit. The first phase of the installation will be done only when nighttime temp registers 70 degrees, 7 to 10 days before our first visit. Installation will be canceled if daytime temperature falls below freezing point or if it rained 4 hours before the concrete pour. The reason is that quick concrete has a different composition from concrete used on sidewalks and driveways. In cold weather, quick concrete tends to freeze and chip, developing a bluish color making it too weak to support the anchor kit and, in turn, the base plate. Rain causes the concrete to develop pits, which might weaken the concrete. Water coming from rainfall gathers at the lower portion of the hole, thus causing the concrete to take more time to cure.

When should I expect to be scheduled?

All things being equal, scheduling is done based on the date of your purchase. In areas where weather condition can’t be predicted, scheduling will be done 1 to 2 weeks at a time, thus ensuring we act fast should the need for rescheduling arise. It takes 10 days to process your Dig reference number.

How long will the entire process take?

If weather conditions are favorable, it takes 3 to 4 days to process your request for utility marking. Make your request at www.misssutility.net or www.va811.com. It takes about 5 days for the second phase to commence after the first phase, which can be done at anytime.

What will the first phase consist of?

On the first visit, our technician will confirm with someone, 18 years and over where the hoop will be situated. Once confirmed, a hole will be dug, anchor kits installed and concrete poured. It takes between 90 and 120 minutes to dig a normal hole.

What will the second phase consist of?

It is at this phase that our technician will set up the unit. Also important for someone mature to be around during this phase. It takes about 45 minutes for this phase to be completed.

What depth will the hole be dug to?

The hole we dig measures 18” by 18” wide and 3 to 4 feet deep.

What will happen to the dirt?

You will need about 2 wheel barrows to carry away excavated dirt. We will only help haul excavated dirt to a particular spot on the job site. We do not haul dirt away.

How far over the driveway will the backboard hang?

This distance is about one and a half feet. It is important you consult with our technician before selecting the spot where the hoop will be installed.

What if my previously installed hoop is still functional?

We will remove the hoop if you so wish, but this will attract an additional cost. However, you shall be responsible for the removal of the hoop. We will only help move the hoop where it will be easy for you to move it.

Why am I required to be at home during the two visits?

We want you to be present to witness your basketball goal installation because it is a semi-permanent structure. Another reason why we want you to be present is that we want to ensure you are satisfied with our completed work. Once we install it, we cannot relocate it. Doing so will be considered another job and the whole process will start over again.

What if I have an old anchor kit, will there be a need to dig it out?

We will only do this if it is of similar model. But we will have to verify from any of the following manufacturers:
  • MegaSlam
  • Goalsetter
  • ProDunk
  • Goaliath
  • Goalrilla
  • Silverback
  • American Eagle
  • First Team
  • Lifetime
  • Ironclad
  • Spalding
